#sharpisland in #hongkong is quite a #remotespot. You can go #hiking, #snorkeling or #birdwatching. But one thing I didn’t count for was #waspwatching 🤷🏼‍♂️

However, since I never saw these kinds of #insects before, I found it quite #exciting to watch these little #creatures how they were #digging many holes in the #beach #sand in order to #hide their #victims that they were chasing and killing before. One #wasp was especially #impressive when it arrived with a #grasshopper of quite decent size 😳 After it landed its prey on the beach, it instantly began to dig an hole for it in the sand to hide it there.

Even if those wasps were quite bigger than usual ones, if you consider the size of the grasshopper and the wasp, and also the speed how quickly the wasp was digging a hole in the beach, it really made me wonder how strong those wasps are!! 🤨💪🏼💪🏼

#china is known for #technology, #electriccars, #rareearth, #goodfood and sure a lot more. However, many people would not consider China to be a #goodplace to do #birdspotting 🤷🏼‍♂️ Why? Because we - in the #westernworld - still think that China might be full of #smog and #nature would not be #respected well. So surely there would not be a lot of #birds around.

Visiting China this time with some special #focus on #birding, I would state that these kinds of prejudices are no longer true - if they have ever been at all. #gobirding in China! 🤩

The #worldfamous #riceterraces of #longsheng have spent #food and #employment to local #chinese #farmers for hundreds of years already. And you can still find this place in almost perfect shape today! 🤗

It was actually my first time to experience a #riceterrace in #spring, when the whole surrounding #ecosystem is blessed with all the #water around. Indeed we were able to see loads of #birds, #frogs and spectacular #butterflies around! 😍🙌🏼

Finally back to #China after 6 years, back to #Guilin and #Yangshuo after almost 14 years! 😳 It is my fifth #adventure in #Zhongguo and the #fascination about this country still continues to grow. When I was in this region in #2010, I didn’t even own a smartphone yet - and obviously not a #drone! Who has already met these chatty #seabirds? The #oystercatcher is named like that for a reason. His #redbill is strong and long and useful to get the best out of #seashells or the #riffs close to the #sea where he strolls around and looks for food. First, I have spotted this kind on #Iceland almost 10 years ago. Up here, in the #northofscotland, you can find them as a quite #commonbird close to the #seaside and they are really fun to watch! 🤓

Hello from #orkney! 😎

Yesterday we arrived here on a #brightsunshinyday and decided to start with the #exploration of the main #island - which is called #mainland - right away. The #ringofbrodgar is one of the most #exciting #sights to visit, since it tells from #humanhistory #5000yearsago 🐒

But the Ring is only one of many #archeological sights that are currently prepared. There seemed to be a lively population doing #farming already 3000BC and earlier on Orkney and some places have been discovered just during the last years and decades 🗿

If you like #stonehenge, you will love this place, since there is way less tourist around and everything looks still quite #untouched! 😍

Some may think of the #grandcanyon when looking at the pictures. Surely, because it is the best know canyon in the western world. However I didn’t expect such #spectacularviews when we were entering #kazachstan from #kyrgyzstan and finally arrived at #charyncanyon. This place is definitely worth a visit if you stay in #almaty or around for a couple of days 👍🏼😊

Also it’s about time to give some props to #dji for the outstanding equipment quality (no, I don’t get paid for stating this 😬): I am operating my #djispark now since 6 years, brought it to 17 countries and spend some 37 hours flying - basically without any major issues! 🙏🏼🥳

#kyrgyz are known to love and live their #freedom. It is said to be the reason why they repeatedly demonstrated against their corrupt presidents and finally chased them away from power. Until today many Kyrgyz #people still live a part-time life as #nomads like they already did thousands of years ago. Even if this is a really #simplewayoflife, it seems that this is also part of their #identity and a way to #celebrate #freedomofliving.

The #people of #kyrgyzstan are not only very hospitable, they also know how to dress up nicely and #traditionally: their typical #hat makes it possible to tell their origin very quickly, which I first learned during my #travels in #xinjiang 2013. And Kyrgyz men wear their hat on the #farmersmarket where they trade their animals as well as on festive occasions, so I learned there is always a good reason to wear it! 🎩

It is also beautiful to see how natural people on the countryside live and how children have fun playing #soccer in a small #village where they don’t even have a proper soccer field to play.

We also met people wearing #suits on a #classreunion and even #soldiers proudly showing their #uniform in from of the official government buildings.

No matter whom we met: people were curious, friendly and seemed very open-minded 🙌🏼
